Pittsburgh, PA
As students prepare to return to college campuses across the nation, the concern of campus sexual assault remains a national conversation that students and administrators alike continue to challenge. U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) addressed students, faculty and staff at the University of Pittsburgh on these challenges as well as his legislation the Campus Sexual Violence Elimination Act, or the Campus SaVE Act, which seeks to protect students from the dangers of sexual assault on college campuses.
Senator Casey specifically outlined the bystander education aspect of the Campus SaVE Act, which creates a prevention strategy that focuses on teaching male and female students alike that they can prevent sexual assaults and that they have a responsibility to do so.
