U.S. Senators Bob Casey (D-Pa.) and John Fetterman (D-Pa.) have opened a special application window for candidates interested in being considered for a U.S. District Court Judge position in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania (EDPA) in the Lehigh Valley.
Process
Pennsylvania’s U.S. Senators have a longstanding tradition of working together to recommend and confirm nominees to the federal bench. Senator Casey previously worked with then-Senators Arlen Specter (R-PA) and Pat Toomey (R-PA), with whom he confirmed 38 District Court Judges for Pennsylvania on a bipartisan basis from 2007-2022. Casey and Fetterman have continued this practice.
Senators Casey and Fetterman employ the following process to fill vacancies on the Federal District Court in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania (EDPA):
- A District Commission will be established in the EDPA.
- This Commission will review applications and interview applicants. After interviews, the Commission will send a list of recommended candidates to the two U.S. Senators.
- The EDPA Commission is chaired by Robert Ross, Founding Partner, Ross Feller Casey, LLP.
