WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) released the following statement on the passage of the bipartisan S. 1855, the Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Act Reauthorization of 2011 (PAHPA) out of the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee by unanimous consent:
“America faces a complex variety of hazards and threats, but this bill ensures that we continue to build our defenses against chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear terrorist attacks as well as increase our preparation for naturally occurring health emergencies. This legislation will ensure our nation’s resiliency is as robust as possible, making Pennsylvania’s communities safer. I am pleased to see this bill move forward and urge the full Senate to take it up as soon as possible.”
Senator Casey introduced the legislation with Senators Richard Burr (R-NC), Tom Harkin (D-IA) and Michael Enzi (R-WY).
