Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) announced $1.045 million in federal funding for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to maintain the Indian Rock Dam in York. The funding comes from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
“As we work to continue to preserve and protect the Chesapeake Bay watershed, maintaining the structural integrity of the Indian Rock Dam in York is critical,” said Senator Casey. “This funding, made possible by the infrastructure law, will bring much-needed resources back the Commonwealth, create jobs and invest in Pennsylvania for generations to come.”
The funding will remove debris and sediment in the intake of the dam and in the vicinity of the Penn St. floodwall construction area. It will also remove shoaling and vegetation throughout Codorus Creek Channel and restore the Willis Run Levee Segment. The project helps protect habitat and water quality within the Chesapeake Bay watershed. [SOURCE]
