WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senator Bob Casey today announced that the Department of Transportation has awarded $182,000 to the Bradford Regional Airport for safety improvements and security enhancements at the airport.

“I am pleased to announce the grant from the Department of Transportation,” said Senator Casey. “These funds will allow the Bradford Regional Airport to address important safety concerns and provide essential equipment for our fire and rescue workers.”

The funding includes $134,750 for the obstruction removal with the primary surface on Runway 14/32 and to enhance safety at the airport. It also includes $47,250 for the acquisition of Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting protective equipment such as helmets, suits, boots, and gloves.

The grants are funded through the Airport Improvement Program (AIP) which provides grants to public agencies — and, in some cases, to private owners and entities -- for the planning and development of public-use airports that are included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS).
