WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation is awarding the Erie Metropolitan Transit Authority a $2 million grant through its Clean Fuels Program. Funding will be used to replace diesel vehicles with vehicles that run on compressed natural gas.
“This grant will create jobs and help make our transit systems cleaner,” said Senator Casey. “Natural gas has the potential to fuel economic development across the state, and I’m pleased that this grant will boost this development and ensure a future of clean transportation.”
The Department of Transportation’s Clean Fuels Program helps communities control ozone and carbon monoxide pollution while supporting emerging clean fuel and advanced propulsion technologies for transit buses.
