Funding will support construction of a new 700,000-square-foot terminal
Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) is announcing that Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) is receiving $20,000,000 in new funding from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The funding is an award from the FY22 Airport Terminal Program, a new competitive grant program created by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. PIT can expect to receive additional funding from the infrastructure law in the coming years.
“As Pittsburgh continues to grow as a top place for young people to move to, our infrastructure around the city must grow with it. This funding will allow Pittsburgh International Airport to build a new terminal, improve the passenger experience, and bring more flights and more people to Pittsburgh every day. With investments in our infrastructure like these, we can keep Pennsylvania moving, strengthening our ties and our economy,” said Senator Casey.
The Terminal Modernization Program at PIT includes the construction of a new 700,000 square-foot landside terminal that will include an improved passenger security screening checkpoint and checked baggage inspection system, baggage handling equipment, U.S. Customs and Border Protection area and associated public spaces and support functions. On top of this funding, PIT has received over $11,000,000 in federal funding since December 2021.
