Grant will fund structural repairs, facility renovations, accessibility improvements at Westmoreland County airport
Arnold Palmer Regional Airport has received more than $5 million from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act
Infrastructure law has invested more than $230 million in Pennsylvania airports
Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awarded $855,000 from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to Arnold Palmer Regional Airport (LBE). The grant will enable the airport to rehabilitate the Air Traffic Control Tower, improve accessibility by adding a new elevator, renovate the HVAC system, lighting, and restroom, and fund structural repairs.
“Arnold Palmer Regional Airport makes it possible for residents of Westmoreland County and the region to travel conveniently and efficiently,” Senator Casey said. “Thanks to the infrastructure law, the airport will be able to improve Air Traffic Control operations, make the tower more accessible for people with disabilities, and fund necessary repairs to its walls, floors, and roof, improving the travel experience for Southwestern Pennsylvanians.”
The FAA Contract Tower Competitive Grant Program offers $20 million in grants from the infrastructure law to modernize air traffic control towers at many small town and municipal airports. These funds will allow airports to sustain, construct, repair, improve, rehabilitate, modernize, replace, or relocate non-approach control towers; acquire and install air traffic control, communications, and related equipment to be used in those towers.
