CLARION, PA—U.S. Senator Bob Casey today announced federal funding for the Northwest Central PA Emergency Response Group’s interoperable communications project. This is a six county collaborative that will enable the citizens of these regions to create a joint communication system that will tie in with those counties, for the purpose of promoting seamless interoperability capabilities among counties, hospitals, regional, state and federal agencies.
“I am pleased to announce this funding that will help to improve Clarion County’s interoperable communications,” said Senator Casey. “This funding will not only benefit Clarion, but the surrounding counties including Cameron, Clearfield, Elk, Jefferson and McKean counties. Over 250,000 residents of the six-county region will benefit from this project.”
Senator Casey helped to secure $500,000 for Clarion County’s interoperable communications in the FY2010 Commerce-Justice-Science Appropriations Bill. This funding will promote seamless interoperability capabilities among counties, hospitals and regional, state and federal agencies among six counties: Clarion, Cameron, Clearfield, Elk, Jefferson and McKean. Senator Arlen Specter and Congressman Glenn Thompson (R-PA) also supported this project.
Senator Casey also toured the emergency management training room at the 911 center. Senator Casey was joined by the Northwest Central PA Emergency Response Group and Clarion County Commissioners.
