Alpen High-Performance Products, Inc. will receive funding from infrastructure law to build pioneering insulated glass manufacturing facility in Vandergrift
Funding will create 100 good-paying jobs and reduce energy and heating costs for consumers
Casey fought to secure funding for grant program in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act
Washington, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) announced $5.8 million for Alpen High-Performance Products (HPP) to build the first automated triple- and quadruple-paned insulated glass operation in North America. The funding comes from the Department of Energy’s Advanced Energy Manufacturing and Recycling Grant Program, established in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), and will help Alpen HPP increase its glass unit production tenfold, create 100 good-paying jobs, and reduce energy and heating costs for consumers. Alpen HPP’s manufacturing capabilities will be expanded in its Vandergrift, PA and Louisville, CO facilities.
“Energy-efficient windows can make a world of a difference on families’ heating and cooling bills,” said Senator Casey. “With this funding, Alpen High-Performance Products will be able to expand and automate production of insulated windowpanes—saving families’ money and creating good-paying jobs in Southwestern Pennsylvania. The infrastructure law is helping America take control of its future and become the manufacturing powerhouse we know we can be.”
Senator Casey fought to pass the IIJA, which funded this project and has delivered more than $13.8 billion in federal funding for Pennsylvania since its passage in 2021. Casey also supported the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), which included his provision to provide a tax credit for clean energy projects built in energy communities like Southwestern Pennsylvania. A new report shows that, since the passage of the IRA, energy communities are leading the Nation in new clean energy investment.
