Buses to be Purchased from American Manufacturer
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) today announced a grant of $615,250 to help the Lehigh and Northampton Transportation Authority (LANTA) purchase 20 new hybrid transit buses.
“New hybrid buses will help LANTA continue to provide reliable transportation for the residents of the Lehigh Valley who depend on it,” said Senator Casey. “This grant will keep us focused on using American ingenuity and manufacturing capability to produce vehicles for the future.”
“LANTA is pleased that this important grant has been approved,” said LANTA Executive Director Armando V. Greco. “The electric hybrid buses to be purchased with these funds will replace buses purchased in 1998 and will continue the LANTA effort to convert its fleet to a more environmentally friendly, fuel efficient technology.”
LANTA plans to purchase the buses from the Gillig Corporation, an American manufacturer.
