WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) under the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has awarded $121,144 to two fire departments in Schuylkill County.
“Pennsylvania’s firefighters endure risk and sacrifice every day to keep our communities safe,” said Senator Casey. “This money will help provide the firefighters of Schuylkill County with the equipment they need to ensure their safety and the safety of those they serve.”
North End Fire Company in Pine Grove will receive $18,663 for operations and safety.
Rainbow Hose Company No. 1 in Schuylkill Haven will receive $102,481 for operations and safety.
Federal funds are awarded through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program (AFG) which aims to strengthen the Nation’s first responders’ ability to protect the health and safety of the public as well as the responders’ themselves. This is the 13th round of AFG grants for Fiscal Year 2010.
