WASHINGTON, DC-U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has awarded $165,800 in grants and loans to two northeastern Pennsylvania boroughs and a northeastern Pennsylvania fire company for community facilities development.

“The federal funds going to northeastern Pennsylvania will help fund the acquisition of vital community resources,” said Senator Casey. “It is good to see investments in infrastructure development and public safety in our rural Pennsylvania communities.”

The funding for northeastern Pennsylvania is part of $469 million announced today through the USDA Rural Development Community Facilities Program. The Community Facilities Program helps finance essential community facilities for public use in rural areas. These facilities include child care centers, hospitals, medical clinics, assisted-living facilities, fire and rescue stations, police stations, community centers, public buildings and transportation.
