WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) under the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has awarded $166,397 to two fire departments in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
“Pennsylvania’s firefighters endure risk and sacrifice every day to keep our communities safe,” said Senator Casey. “This money will help provide the firefighters of Southwestern Pennsylvania with the equipment they need to ensure their safety and the safety of those they serve.”
West Deer Township Volunteer Fire Company No. 3 in Gibsonia will receive $125,526 for operations and safety.
Midway-St Clair VFD in Greensburg will receive $40,871 for operations and safety.
Federal funds are awarded through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program (AFG) which aims to strengthen the Nation’s first responders’ ability to protect the health and safety of the public as well as the responders’ themselves. This is the 16th round of AFG grants for Fiscal Year 2010.
