WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senator Bob Casey announced today that the Department of Justice (DOJ) has awarded $16,120 in federal funding for the Mercer County Department of Public Safety and the Sharon Police Force in Sharon, Pennsylvania. This money, part of the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program (JAG), will be used to buy four upgraded laptops for the department.

“I am pleased that this funding will go to Sharon and the greater Mercer County police forces,” Senator Casey said. “Increasing the technology available to police will help fight crime and bring criminals to justice.”

Federal funding is made available by the Department of Justice as part of the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program (JAG). It is awarded to state or local initiatives that will improve or enhance law enforcement programs related to criminal justice.
