WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senator Bob Casey announced today that the Department of Justice (DOJ) will award Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania $299,545 in federal funding for programs that reduce violent crimes against women. This grant is provided through the Reduce Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, Sexual Assault and Stalking on Campus Program, part of the Violence Against Women Act.

“I am pleased Lock Haven will have more resources to fight violence against women,” said Senator Casey. “This funding will go towards prevention and education programs for students and training for campus police, so Lock Haven can combat this problem.”

This funding is determined by the DOJ Office on Violence Against Women. This grant will establish a prevention and education program for all incoming students, fund on-campus advocacy organizations, train campus police to respond effectively and develop a program to train campus disciplinary boards.
