WASHINGTON, DC-U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) today announced the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded $3,855,986 to the Lehigh Valley through HUD’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. The funding was included in the recently enacted American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
“These grants will help local government pursue economic and community development projects,” said Senator Casey. “One of the objectives of the recovery plan is to help local governments revitalize their communities. These funds will go a long way to meeting this goal.”
The CDBG program is a formula grant program designed to help local governments to address challenges in their communities.

Lehigh County $375,581
Northampton County $482,497
Reading $828,217
Regional Total $3,855,986
