WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) under the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has awarded $473,522 to two fire departments in Southeastern Pennsylvania.

“Pennsylvania’s firefighters endure risk and sacrifice every day to keep our communities safe,” said Senator Casey. “This money will help provide the firefighters of Southeastern Pennsylvania with the equipment they need to ensure their safety and the safety of those they serve.”

Limerick Fire Company will receive $449,040 for operations and safety.

The City of Coatesville Bureau of Fire will receive $24,482 for operations and safety.

Federal funds are awarded through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program (AFG) which aims to strengthen the Nation’s first responders’ ability to protect the health and safety of the public as well as the responders’ themselves. This is the 17th round of AFG grants for Fiscal Year 2010.
