WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) today applauded a decision by the Small Business Administration (SBA) to provide loan aid for victims of the flooding which occurred during the week of August 6th.  The declaration covers Allegheny, Westmoreland, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Cambria, Fayette, Indiana, Somerset and Washington Counties.

“I am pleased that the Small Business Administration has provided this relief for the victims of the August floods,” said Senator Casey.  “I hope that this aid can provide some measure of assistance to the homeowners, renters and businesses affected by the flooding.”

SBA representatives will be at the Millvale Community Center, which is located at 416 Lincoln Avenue in Millvale, PA and at the Murrysville Municipal Building, which is located at 4100 Sardis Road in Murrysville, PA to answer questions, provide loan applications and to walk individuals through the loan application process.  Both centers will open tomorrow, Friday, August 24th from 8:00 am-5:00 pm and remain open on Saturday, August 25th from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm.  The centers will be open Monday – Friday; 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, until further notice. 

Homeowners are eligible for loans up to $200,000 to repair or replace their home.  Homeowners and renters are also eligible for up to $40,000 in loans to cover losses to personal property.  Businesses and non-profits can receive up to $1.5 million in loans to cover buildings, equipment and inventory.

The filing deadline to return applications for physical property damage is October 22, 2007.  The deadline to return economic injury applications is May 21, 2008. 

On August 15th, Senator Casey sent a letter to the Small Business Administration asking them to quickly approve this disaster relief for residents of Allegheny County and the surrounding areas. 

Yesterday, Senator Casey sent letters to President George W. Bush and David Paulison, Director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency asking President Bush to extend federal disaster assistance to Allegheny County and surrounding areas after severe flooding caused extensive property damage.
