Senate Approves Construction Proposal For Moon Township Approval Means Army and Air Force Exchange Service Can Move Forward on Project
Washington, DC— U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) today announced that the Senate Armed Services Subcommittee on Personnel has approved the Army Air Force Exchanges Service (AAFES) yearly construction project proposals which included the construction for the relocated Post Exchange in Moon Township, which is currently located in Oakdale. The Post Exchange (PX) is expected to house a retail store, military clothing, Class Six, and barber shop. The PX will be located next to the commissary that is currently under construction at the McGarity Army Reserve Center in Moon Township.
“This announcement is another success for southwestern Pennsylvania military families,” said Senator Casey. “Along with the construction of the commissary, Navy Operation Support Center, and with the continuing mission of the 911th Airlift Wing, the region continues to hold strong in military assets. This new asset will help the economy while supporting the 168,000 eligible members of the military community in our Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia region.”
Senator Casey has advocated for the relocation of the Post Exchange since his first days in office privately and publicly, most recently in a March letter to the Senate Armed Services Committee, which has jurisdiction over final approval of the Commissary relocation project.
