Funds will help create an estimated 43 jobs

WASHINGTON, DC- U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) applauded the award of $5 million to the Broad Mountain Wind Energy Center in Schuylkill County. The funding is available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

“I am pleased to see another example of Recovery Act funds helping the people of Eastern Pennsylvania,” said Senator Casey. “By investing in this area wind farm, we are putting Pennsylvanians back to work, promoting next generation industries and looking towards an environmentally sustainable future.”

The Broad Mountain Wind Energy Center is receiving $5 million for the installation of eight turbines near Frackville, Schuylkill County. The project is expected to create 43 jobs.

The funds are available through ARRA funded Department of Energy’s Green Energy Works! wind grant program. The Green Energy Works! program aims to increase energy efficiency to reduce energy costs, reduce reliance on imported energy, improve the reliability of electricity and fuel supply and delivery of energy services and reduce the impacts of energy production and use on the environment.
