WASHINGTON, DC- After receiving the latest update from the Pete Geren, Secretary of the Army, that the Charles E. Kelly Support Facility will remain open until a new commissary and Post Exchange is opened, U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) released the following statement:
“This is great news. I’m pleased to learn that the Army has reached an agreement with the Defense Commissary Agency and Army and the Air Force Exchange Service to keep the Commissary and Post Exchange stores open until a new commissary and exchange are opened in Moon Township.
“The Facility is invaluable to the National Guard, Guard Reserve, active military, retirees and their families who rely on the services the facility provides. I particularly want to thank Congressman Murtha for his solid support and dedication on behalf of Charles E. Kelly Military Support Facility.”
Senators Casey and Arlen Specter (R-PA), and Congressmen Mike Doyle (D-PA), Tim Murphy (R-PA), Jason Altmire (D-PA), Bill Schuster (R-PA) and Phil English (R-PA) wrote to the Secretary of Geren on September 4, 2008 urging the Secretary to take all necessary actions to ensure that the Commissary and Post Exchange (PX) services are kept open until a new facility is built.
