WASHINGTON, DC—U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) today applauded the decision by the Obama administration to release federal funding to help communities in Pennsylvania recover from winter storms earlier this year. Senator Casey wrote a letter to the Obama administration in support of releasing the funds.
“I wish to thank the Obama administration for providing this assistance to help local communities that incurred great costs from the February storms,” said Senator Casey. “This funding will provide much needed relief to the communities that were affected.”
A summary of the federal assistance is below.
Public Assistance: Assistance to State and local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations for emergency work and the repair or replacement of disaster-damaged facilities.
Designated Counties: Adams, Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Bedford, Blair, Butler, Cambria, Chester, Cumberland, Dauphin, Delaware, Fayette, Franklin, Fulton, Greene, Huntingdon, Indiana, Juniata, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry, Philadelphia, Somerset, Westmoreland and York.
Snow Assistance: Assistance for emergency protective measures (Category B). This assistance will be provided for a period of 48 hours.
Designated Counties: Adams, Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Bedford, Blair, Butler, Cambria, Chester, Cumberland, Dauphin, Fayette, Franklin, Fulton, Greene, Huntingdon, Indiana, Juniata, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry, Philadelphia, Somerset, Westmoreland and York.
* Snow assistance will be provided for 72 hours for Delaware County.
Hazard Mitigation Grant Program: Assistance to State and local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations for actions taken to prevent or reduce long term risk to life and property from natural hazards.
Designated Counties: Adams, Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Bedford, Blair, Butler, Cambria, Chester, Cumberland, Dauphin, Delaware, Fayette, Franklin, Fulton, Greene, Huntingdon, Indiana, Juniata, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry, Philadelphia, Somerset, Washington, Westmoreland and York.
