WASHINGTON, DC- U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) today applauded the vote by delegates at the Shriners Hospitals national convention to keep all Shriners Hospitals for Children open, including the Erie facility.
“I am very pleased to hear that delegates to the national Shriners convention have voted to keep all their Children’s Hospitals open, including the Erie facility,” said Senator Casey. “While many decisions on the operating future of the hospitals remain to be determined, this decision will allow our region’s children to continue to receive the excellent medical care that Shriners has provided for decades. Ensuring that all children have access to health care is one of my top priorities. I applaud Shriners’ courage in taking on that mission. I will continue to monitor the situation with national and Erie Shriners administrators.”
Last month, Senator Casey sent a letter to Ralph Semb, the board chairman of Shriners Hospital for Children, asking him to work collaboratively to prevent the closure of the Shriners Hospital for Children in Erie.
