WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) is urging individuals affected by flooding who live, work, or own a business in the 29 Pennsylvania counties designated under the disaster declarations for Hurricane Irene and Tropical Strom Lee to apply for disaster assistance before the November 14 deadline.
“I have met families and business owners across affected portions of the state who have had their lives upended, but they are optimistic about the future and eager to rebuild,” said Senator Casey. “Applying for disaster assistance is an imperative step toward recovery and I urge all of those who may be eligible to apply before the deadline.”
The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and FEMA urge those who sustained disaster-related losses to register by the November 14 deadline, even if they are unsure of their eligibility.
November 14 is also the deadline to apply for a U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) disaster loan. Senator Casey has introduced legislation to reduce the interest rates on certain SBA loans to make it easier for small businesses to recover and rehire workers, and he has called on the SBA administrator to take similar action on the interest rates.
The counties designated under the disaster declarations are Adams, Berks, Bradford, Bucks, Chester, Columbia, Cumberland, Dauphin, Delaware, Huntingdon, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Luzerne, Lycoming, Monroe, Montgomery, Montour, Northampton, Northumberland, Perry, Philadelphia, Schuylkill, Snyder, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Union, Wyoming, and York.
