Jefferson, Clearfield and Fayette Counties All Impacted By Recent Storms
Washington, DC- U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) called on the Small Business Administration (SBA) to grant the Commonwealth’s disaster request for counties hit by recent flooding. Jefferson, Clearfield and Fayette counties were severely impacted by flooding that stemmed from rain storms. Declaring these counties as a disaster area may allow residents and small business owners to become eligible for low interest disaster loans through the Small Business Administration Disaster Loan Program. These low interest loans are crucial to helping residents get back on their feet and allowing small businesses to open their doors as soon as possible.
“Getting families and businesses back on their feet after severe weather must be priority number one,” Senator Casey said. “The SBA should move quickly to grant the Commonwealth’s request and allows businesses in Jefferson, Clearfield and Fayette counties to access these low interest loans that will allow them to rebuild and reopen more quickly.”
If SBA grants the request, citizens and businesses in those three counties and the 14 counties that border them may be eligible for low interest disaster loans through the SBA Disaster Loan Programs. The bordering counties include; Armstrong, Blair, Clarion, Cambria, Cameron, Centre, Clinton, Elk, Forest, Greene, Indiana, Somerset, Washington, and Westmoreland.

Dear Administrator Mills:
I write in strong support of the request by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to declare the counties of Jefferson, Clearfield and Fayette as disaster areas following severe flooding in western Pennsylvania. These counties have been experiencing extreme weather events since June 27th and it has affected numerous home and small business owners in the region.
Declaring these counties as a disaster area may allow residents and small business owners to become eligible for low interest disaster loans through the Small Business Administration Disaster Loan Program. These low interest loans are crucial to helping residents get back on their feet and allowing small businesses to open their doors as soon as possible. I would urge you to declare these counties disaster areas and to take action to approve low interest loans for the affected residents and businesses.
