Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) released the following statement on the Administration’s announcement concerning new trade enforcement measures against China:
“China’s cheating on trade has fleeced our businesses, cost Pennsylvania workers their jobs, stagnated their wages and harmed our communities. I commend the Administration for taking this step. I would also urge them to adopt a more comprehensive strategy - one that gets at the root causes of trade issues.
Trade remedies, like the ones announced today, are but one element of a strategy. It is critical that the Administration work closely with our allies to tackle these core issues, like global steel overcapacity and intellectual property theft, in a way that holds countries that cheat on trade, like China, accountable.”
