At confirmation hearing, Casey praised Judge Munley’s work as advocate for workers, seniors, survivors of assault

Washington, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senators Bob Casey (D-PA) and John Fetterman (D-PA) are announcing that the Senate has confirmed Judge Julia K. Munley to serve on the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania:

“Judge Julia Munley’s experience as a judge, a lawyer, and an advocate for workers, seniors, and many more Pennsylvanians leaves no doubt in my mind that she will serve the people of the Middle District with honor and distinction,” Senator Casey said. “She has dedicated her career to serving the people of our Commonwealth and I look forward to seeing her bring her integrity, experience, and commitment to equal justice under the law to this critical role.”

“I’m very proud that today, the Senate confirmed Judge Julia Munley to be a Judge for the Middle District of Pennsylvania,” Senator Fetterman said. “She is a highly qualified nominee who spent years as a judge on the Court of Common Pleas in Lackawanna County, and her experience has prepared her to be a fantastic District Court Judge. I was honored to support her nomination from the start.”

Judge Julia K. Munley has served as a judge on the Court of Common Pleas of Lackawanna County in Pennsylvania’s 45th Judicial District since 2016. Previously, Judge Munley worked as a trial attorney and partner at Munley Law in Scranton, Pennsylvania from 2001 to 2016. Prior to that, she was an associate at Mazzoni & Karam Law Offices in Scranton, P.A. from 1995 to 2001 and at Masterson, Braunfeld, Maguire & Brown from 1993 to 1995. Judge Munley served as a law clerk to Judge Stephen J. McEwen of the Pennsylvania Superior Court from 1992 to 1993. She received her J.D. from the Dickinson School of Law in 1992 and her B.A. from Marywood University in 1987.
