With this funding, Lehigh Valley International Airport has received nearly $51 million in federal funding since the start of 2021; Allentown Queen City Municipal Airport has received nearly $4.27 million

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senators Bob Casey (D-PA) and John Fetterman (D-PA) and U.S. Representative Susan Wild (D-PA-7) are announcing that Lehigh Valley International Airport is receiving $4,987,205 in new infrastructure funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and Allentown Queen City Municipal Airport is receiving $1,398,892. These grants are awards from the Airport Improvement Program (AIP).

“These awards for Lehigh Valley airports add to the consistent flow of much-needed funds to serve travelers in one of the fastest growing regions in Pennsylvania,” said Senator Casey. “Improving runways will make these two airports safer and more efficient. A safe, effective airport means a better experience for travelers and greater investment in the Lehigh Valley’s economy.”

“I’m very proud that this federal funding is going towards Lehigh Valley International and Allentown Queen City Municipal Airports,” said Senator Fetterman. “This funding, combined with additional investments from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, is making sure airports across Pennsylvania can serve our local communities. It’s an honor to join with my colleagues to announce this important funding.”

“Our local airports are key pieces of infrastructure that connect our community to the rest of the country and world,” said Congresswoman Susan Wild. “I’m very excited we’re receiving these federal Airport Improvement Program investments that will keep people traveling safely, and I’ll continue working to bring federal funds home to strengthen the Lehigh Valley’s transportation infrastructure and drive our economy forward.”

The funding for Lehigh Valley International Airport will be used to rehabilitate the airport’s runway. LVIA has received a total of $50,961,063 in federal investments since the start of 2021. Allentown Queen City Municipal Airport has received $4,277,459 in the same period of time. Their latest award will be used for runway lighting rehabilitation.
