Intends to Introduce Legislation to Extend Tax Cuts for Working Families for a Full Year

ASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA), Chairman of the Joint Economic Committee, released the following statement on the Senate vote on the payroll tax cut:

“I am frustrated that some in Congress blocked my proposal to put more money in the pockets of 160 million Americans for all of next year.  However, the measure passed today will at least provide working families with some certainty going into the holidays.  I will continue to fight for working families.  I intend to introduce new legislation in January to extend this tax cut for the rest of the year.  6.7 million workers in Pennsylvania are counting on Congress to get this done.  Failure to do so, would cost Pennsylvania 20,000 private sector jobs.”
