670 groups from all 50 states send letter to Congress urging action

WASHINGTON, DC-At a press conference today, U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) joined sportsmen, the National Wildlife Federation and U.S. Senator John Warner (R-VA) to urge Congressional action to combat global warming. Senator Casey is a cosponsor of a number of bills designed to reduce global warming pollution including the comprehensive Warner-Lieberman bill.

“Reducing global warming is one of the biggest challenges we face and one with ramifications that spread all the way down to the quality of life for our families and for future generations,” said Senator Casey. “As the 1.4 million Pennsylvania sportsmen know, we can already see the harmful effects of global warming on the land. We owe it to our children and our grandchildren to take steps to protect our environment.”

Senator Casey and Senator Warner were joined at the press conference by sportsmen, Pittsburgh-native and President of the National Wildlife Federation, Larry Schweiger, Simon Roosevelt, great-great grandson of President Theodore Roosevelt and David Crockett, a sportsman and a descendent of the legendary outdoorsman.

Senator Casey has been a proponent of urgent action to slow, stop and reduce global warming pollution.

Senator Casey is a cosponsor of the Lieberman-Warner America’s Climate Security Act. In addition, Senator Casey is a cosponsor of the Global Warming Pollution Reduction Act introduced by Senators Barbara Boxer (D-CA) and Bernie Sanders (I-VT), the Low Carbon Economy Act Introduced by Senators Arlen Specter (R-PA) and Jeff Bingaman (D-NM) and the Clean Air Planning Act introduced by Senator Tom Carper (D-DE).
