WASHINGTON, DC— U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) today applauded the decision of GE Transportation to hire 360 employees at its production facilities in Erie.

“I am pleased that GE is making an investment in its Erie facilities to continue to innovate and remain a vital component of Erie’s economy,” said Senator Casey. “This is an important boost to the local economy and will allow GE to tap a strong and vibrant workforce.”

In addition to hiring 360 new employees, GE Transportation announced today a $58 million investment in research and testing technology, facilities and equipment in Erie that will reduce engine emissions and improve fuel efficiency of its locomotives.

Senator Casey has also worked closely with GE Transportation to create jobs in Northwestern Pennsylvania by helping the company gain better access to international markets and boost domestic locomotive production.
