U.S. Senator Bob Casey is issuing the following statement regarding the bipartisan agreement that has been reached on cost-sharing subsidies:
“This commonsense bipartisan compromise will improve our health care system so that it works better for middle class families. In order for this legislation to benefit Pennsylvania families, the Administration must end the sabotage of the health care system, which just yesterday, caused a 30% premium increase in our state. Even if this legislation becomes law, there will be more work to do to bring down premiums and reduce health care costs for families. I will continue to pursue a Medicare-like public option to give Pennsylvania families more choices and passage of my legislation to allow the importation of cheaper prescription drugs from Canada. This compromise is an opportunity to put aside the urge to decimate and destroy and to work jointly to improve our health care system.”
