WASHINGTON, DC- U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) released the following statement on the President’s Forum on Jobs and Economic Growth and on a proposal he is working on for a job creation tax credit:
“I applaud President Obama for bringing industry, worker groups and other experts to the White House to address an issue so important to the American people and the economy. And I am especially pleased that the President will visit Pennsylvania tomorrow to continue keeping the focus on jobs and to get firsthand insight in the Commonwealth.
“We have seen some positive economic news; however, as is historically the case, we have not yet seen an increase in jobs. The private sector, federal, state and local governments should work together to explore ideas to spur job growth in the short-term and the long-term.
“One idea that I am exploring is a job creation tax credit to make it easier for businesses, especially small businesses, to hire employees. Everyone now has a tight budget. Providing a financial incentive to allow companies to make hires in the near future can help workers looking for a job, spur economic growth and put money back into the economy. I am continuing to work with my colleagues in the Senate to develop this legislation and pursue other actions that will create more jobs.
“I will also continue to listen to workers, business leaders and economists on the best ways to move forward to create jobs and help our economy.”
