Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) released the following statement on the passing of Sister Adrian Barrett:
“Sister Adrian Barrett was a champion of the poor and the powerless. She fought tirelessly for Northeastern Pennsylvania’s most vulnerable children and families and spent her life as a true servant to her community. Her nonprofit, Friends of the Poor, was a lifeline for thousands during challenging times. Sister Adrian’s ministry came directly from gospel: she fed the hungry, gave drink to the thirsty and clothed and housed those without. She was faithful to the sacred mission of the IHM sisters to follow Jesus and to be a clear and understandable prophetic witness to the presence of God in the world. We mourn her passing and will miss her work but her commitment to service will continue to inspire others for generations.”
