WASHINGTON, DC— U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA), chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Near Eastern and South and Central Asian Affairs, released the following statement following the tragic events in Itamar:
“I am shocked and deeply saddened by the senseless murder of an Israeli family early Saturday morning in Itamar. There can be – and there is no – justification for killing three innocent children and their parents while they slept. I condemn this brutal crime in the strongest possible terms; the perpetrators must be brought to justice and their inhumanity disavowed. Let me be clear: the terrorism and cowardice perpetrated by this act should not alter our resolve to pursue peace in the region. My thoughts and prayers are with the two surviving children and their family.”
