Johnstown, PA- U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) today opened the Showcase for Commerce as the lead congressional sponsor for the second consecutive year.  The 24th annual Showcase for Commerce brings key businesses and government officials together in Johnstown to highlight the strength of the region’s defense and manufacturing industry. U.S. Senator Jack Reed, a leading member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, and Sean Stackley, the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research, Development and Acquisition, will be among the attendees.

“Showcase for Commerce is a vital forum for our defense industry not only in Pennsylvania‎ but across the nation,” said Senator Casey. “I am grateful to Senator Reed and Assistant Secretary Stackley for joining us here to see first-hand the region’s top-notch businesses and world class workforce.  The effects of sequestration have compounded existing pressures on the defense industry and I am committed to keeping our industrial base in Pennsylvania strong .”
