New Funds Will Help Fire Stations Train, Purchase Equipment, Retain and Hire Firefighters
Washington DC- Today, U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) announced that City of Philadelphia will receive $18,433,226 in funds from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in the form of two grants: a SAFER grant of 16,301,696 which can be used to retain or hire firefighters and another grant of 2,131,830 that can be used for equipment.
“I’ve consistently pushed for more resources for Philadelphia’s firefighters so that they can continue their work to keep residents safe,” Senator Casey said. “Our firefighters make tremendous sacrifices on our behalf and it’s critical we provide them with the tools to do their job.”
