WASHINGTON, DCU.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) praised the Senate’s passage of the Combating Autism Reauthorization Act (S. 1094), bipartisan legislation he cosponsored to continue critically important research on autism and coordination of federal activities addressing the disorder.

“The passage of this bill is great news for Pennsylvania families dealing with autism,” said Senator Casey. “Continued research is necessary to understand the causes of autism and possible ways to manage and prevent it.”

The bill maintains authorized funding for the Centers for Disease Control, the Health Resources and Services Administration and the National Institutes of Health through fiscal year 2014 for autism surveillance, education, early detection and intervention.
