WASHINGTON, DC- U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) has selected the Scott School Early Childhood Center in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to receive five computers through the U.S. Senate’s Computers for Schools program.
“I am pleased that the Scott School Early Childhood Center will benefit from the donation of these computers,” said Senator Casey. “Computers grant students access to countless resources that are otherwise beyond their reach and practical knowledge about how to use technology is irreplaceable in today’s digital age.”
The U.S. Senate’s Computers for Schools program was established to channel educationally-useful surplus Senate computers into classrooms across the country, with the aim of allowing public schools to better take advantage of the information technology age. Senators are given the option of donating up to 25 computers to public schools in their state that have registered with the program. The computers, which the Senate no longer uses due to routine equipment upgrades, are in excellent condition and wiped clean of memory before redeployment to schools. Donations must be made in groups of five.
Senator Casey has selected five schools throughout the Commonwealth to each receive an allotment of five computers. Schools interested in participating in the program may register on the General Services Administration website at: http://www.computers.fed.gov
