Federal funding will promote and support entrepreneurship and small businesses

WASHINGTON, DC- U.S. Senators Bob Casey and Arlen Specter today announced committee approval of federal funding for Ben Franklin Technology Partners Corporation in Dauphin County for its Manufacturing Pennsylvania’s Future program.  The project is contained in the Fiscal Year 2011 Financial Services Appropriations Bill.

“This money is great news for Pennsylvania and I am grateful that members of the committee approved this funding,” said Senator Casey.  “This funding should help spur innovation, promote economic development and create jobs throughout the Commonwealth.”

“These initiatives will help to strengthen Pennsylvania’s small businesses and promote entrepreneurship,” Senator Specter said.  “This funding comes at a critical time during our economic recovery, and I applaud my colleagues for supporting these projects.”

The Ben Franklin Technology Partners Corporation in Dauphin County will receive $50,000 for its Manufacturing Pennsylvania’s Future program, which will support applied research and commercialization activities for both new businesses and existing manufacturers to enable them to introduce new products or process innovations.  Funding will be used statewide.
