WASHINGTON, DC- U.S. Senators Bob Casey and Arlen Specter introduced a resolution to honor the Pittsburgh Penguins for winning the 2009 Stanley Cup.   

“Congratulations to the Pittsburgh Penguins, their fans, Coach Bylsma, Co-owners Mario Lemieux and Ron Burkle, the Penguins organization and the entire city of Pittsburgh for this historic win,” said Senator Casey.  “After a long, hard battle, the Penguins have returned the Cup to Pittsburgh, making Pittsburgh the City of Champions once again.”

“This victory was the culmination of a hard-fought regular season and an exhilarating playoff run for the Penguins,” Senator Specter said. “On behalf of the United States Senate, and as an ardent fan myself, I congratulate the Penguins on winning the 2009 Stanley Cup and bringing Pittsburgh another major sports championship.”
