Washington, DC- U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) released a statement following last night’s Amtrak derailment:
“Today my thoughts and prayers are with all those impacted by last night’s tragic crash in Philadelphia. We also owe a debt of gratitude to the brave first responders who rushed to the scene and the medical professionals throughout Philadelphia who attended to the victims. We are fortunate that Philadelphia has some of the best medical facilities in the country and that they’re always ready to respond in the case of an emergency. My office has received briefings from federal, state and local officials. I will continue to monitor the situation closely and work to ensure that all federal resources that can aid in the investigation and recovery are available. The Northeast Corridor is a frequent travel route for millions of Americans. It’s critical that we do all we can to assess the results of the investigation into this crash and take appropriate steps to prevent derailments in the future.”
Those with questions about their friends and family should call Amtrak's Incident Hotline at 800-523-9101.
