WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) released the following statement in remembrance of the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks:
"We will always remember the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, whose lives were cut brutally short and whose families will never be the same. We remember the courage and the selflessness of those who responded to the attacks, rushing toward the scene of the devastation, into fires, and into rubble to save others.
Today, I was in Shanksville to remember the passengers of United Flight 93, who lost their lives in a field in rural Pennsylvania. These were men and women from across the country, some returning from business trips, others returning home to their families after time apart. They sacrificed themselves while saving countless others. They demonstrated a remarkable, uncommon courage.
A decade ago, America came together to mourn the victims and honor the heroes of 9/11. The world watched as citizens from every city and state, from all walks of life, set aside their differences and said, “We are Americans.” On the tenth anniversary of that tragic day, we should again honor the victims and their sacrifices by renewing our commitment to unity and cooperation in order to face our common challenges.
My thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who lost their lives. America will never forget the courage that their loved ones displayed on that horrible day.”
