SHANKSVILLE, PA- After speaking at the Flight 93 National Memorial Service, U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA), released the following statement:

“On the eighth anniversary of 9/11 I join with all Americans in remembering those who lost their lives at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

“Today in Shanksville I was honored to lay a wreath to remember the sacrifice of those aboard Flight 93 who gave their lives to prevent additional destruction and to speak at the Flight 93 National Memorial Service along with former Secretary of State Colin Powell, retired General Tommy Franks, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, former Governor Tom Ridge, Governor Ed Rendell and others.

“Earlier this week, I attended a very moving unveiling of a plaque in the U.S. Capitol, one of the possible terrorist targets, listing the names of the 40 passengers and crew aboard Flight 93 that pays tribute to their heroism.

“My thoughts and prayers go out to the families who lost loved ones eight years ago today.”
