WASHINGTON, DC- U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) encourages White House action and released the following statement after Republicans blocked legislation to preserve the U.S. auto industry and protect millions of American jobs: “The result of the Senate vote last night was beyond disappointing. Because a majority of votes in the Senate wasn't enough to overcome minority opposition, we place at risk millions of jobs -- including as many as 120,000 jobs in Pennsylvania. I urge the Administration to do the right thing to prevent more job loss and to ward off another big hit to our economy. “Laying blame on auto workers for their compensation and benefits is misleading and wrong. Workers have made concessions over the past few years and during this current process. We didn't hear those arguments when aid was provided to the financial industry, yet there seems to be an expectation that auto workers should walk the plank.” ###
