Washington, DC - U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) released a statement on the recent cocaine seizure at the Port of Philadelphia:

“I applaud the women and men of the Philadelphia Police Department, Customs and Border Protection, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Coast Guard working to stop the flow of illegal drugs through our ports of entry. This seizure is further evidence that a border wall will not stop drugs from ‘pouring into the country’ as the President has previously claimed, and points to the vulnerability the Administration has created by reassigning border protection officers from already understaffed Ports to the southern border. I hope the President will stop playing political games, get serious about stopping illegal drug trafficking and start working to address the real threats of illicit smuggling at our Ports of Entry by addressing staffing shortages and improving the screening of cargo, passenger vehicles and sea containers.”
