WASHINGTON, DC- After learning of GE Transportation’s announcement of its plans to permanently eliminate positions in Northwestern Pennsylvania, U.S. Senator Bob Casey released the following statement:
“This is sad news. In my conversations with Lorenzo Simonelli I have made clear my commitment to the Erie and Grove City plants and to domestic locomotive production. I am a firm believer in the economic, infrastructure and environmental benefits of rail travel, and have been an advocate for additional domestic purchases and opening international markets to U.S.-manufactured locomotives. Erie and Grove City are leaders in domestic locomotive manufacturing, and I will continue to work with GE as well as federal, state and local officials to do everything possible for the workers affected and to support domestic manufacturing.”
