Today, U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) is releasing a statement following the decision of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection regarding the Keystone Landfill:
“The decision by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is contrary to the best interests of the people of Lackawanna County. The approval of this permit is further evidence that our Commonwealth’s environmental laws are inadequate. The General Assembly should pass legislation that will toughen enforcement of environmental laws, better protect communities and allow local municipalities more control over these decisions.”
