WASHINGTON, DC- Following the announcement that State Senator Robert Mellow will not seek re-election, U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) released the following statement:
“Throughout his career, Senator Mellow has been a strong and effective advocate for Scranton, Lackawanna County and Northeastern Pennsylvania.
“In his 40 years in Harrisburg, he has amassed a long list of local accomplishments from economic development to job creation to helping to establish the Commonwealth Medical College in Scranton.
“He also played a key role in the health and well-being of tens of thousands of children through his work helping to establish the Children’s Health Insurance Program.
“I would like to thank him for his public service for Lackawanna County and the Commonwealth.”
